Most of the influencers you follow were finished reflecting on 2024 before the year was over. Not this one!!
We packed up everything (our daughter’s ashes, clothes, and my ever growing collection of trinkets) on December 29th to move across the country. Needless to say, 2025 started off in a very disorienting way. I didn’t know what day it was until yesterday, and I wish I were joking.
With all the changes that a new state, new climate, new home & new reality bring, I’ve had to give myself grace. I like to start the new year strong. This year, it’s been more shaky & feeble than ever. And isn’t that what I’ve been learning since July 2024 anyway?
You can have all the best plans, but you never know what will happen.
Since we moved we renovated a few rooms, bought 100 paint swatches, celebrated six months of KC being in heaven, and still can’t settle on a dining room table. Goals feel frivolous when you’re still sleeping on an air mattress. But at the same time, I know I need them. Goals keep me moving. And now more than ever, I need to keep on keeping on.
Which leads to the vision! I am religious about vision boards- our brain needs direction! So here’s my direction for 2025. My main intentions:
Embrace the seasons instead of resisting them
lead a vibrant life
become a mother again
make, make, make.
This is my 2024 vision board. Some things came true. Others are laughable- and that’s on being a human.
The thing I notice as I get older is that the vision becomes simpler each year. The goals are predictable. My intentions aren’t wild, they’re right on course, year after year. I hope 2025 feels safe, slow and not at all shocking. You’ll notice- the vision isn’t much different. Just hopefully involves a baby & chickens.
2025 Intentions
Embrace the seasons instead of resisting them
lead a vibrant life
become a mother again
make, make, make.
be joyful
2025 Goals:
Plan and host a celebration for KC’s 1st birthday that I know she’d be proud of
Read 50 books
Use people’s names in conversations
Memorize one Bible verse per month
Daily gratitude (365 entries by December 31)
Get an extra piercing with KC earrings
Grow Instagram to 150K followers
Make Ina Gardens Flag Cake
Learn needlepoint finishing
Practice French braiding weekly.
Take barre classes
Switch to loose-leaf tea
Start an herb garden.
Organic workout gear/ socks/ undies
Make a photo album for KC
And while I’m very late to the party, WHATEVER. I have to get these predictions out into the world. I was right about Vera Bradley last year, so who knows?
To be honest, I’m having trouble picturing myself in 2025. Everything in me wants to go back to 2024, to relive the days I had with my daughter, the anticipation of her birth, and the bliss of not knowing how hard life would be. So if you’re having a slow start to the year, you’re not alone.
We’ll find our footing together.
With love,
Karissa
